[1/6] One Piece 3D Project - "Straw Hat" 👒☠️

Project introduction:
One Piece by Eiichirō Oda is one of the first manga I started my collection with many many years ago and I have to thank my friends for sharing their passion with me, for letting me discover this new world and for being to this day still together on this adventure. 🤗

One Piece is one of my favourite manga, also inspired by the live action show on Netflix, I created a 3D renders with objects representing the members of the Straw Hat Pirates, at least the ones showed on the first season of the show.

For the first render of the project I chose the Captain, Monkey D. Luffy.
The Devil fruit is ready to be eaten and the straw hat, a precious object, will accompany Luffy in his adventure to become the future King of the Pirates! 🏴‍☠️

Render Details:
The branches and the treasure chest are from Poly Haven.
Geometry Nodes setups for the fruit and the hat.

Initially for the hat material I used some texture maps, but it was complicated to adapt them to the specific look of the hat (concentric lines for the crown and radial lines for the brim), so I tried with a procedural material, it was ok, but it still needed some work (converging lines) especially on the top part of the crown, so I opted for a geometry nodes setup, instancing single strands on curves.

After my old pc refused to render the complete scene, I had to split the render in 2, one with the hat and no fruit and viceversa, I kept in mind the shadows of the objects, they didn't interfere with each other, so it was easier blending them together in the compositor.
