Practice drawing number one: “Luna” using a gorgeous photo from @sally.regentine
This is a 9”x12” size Caran D’Ache Luminance and Derwent Lightfast colored pencils on Kraft Legion Stonehenge paper.
I redid this rough draft because I wasn’t happy with the first one due to several issues. This time I spent a good 3 hours editing and revising my reference photo to make the rough draft process easier and it definitely paid off! This draft went much smoother and all the mistakes I made in draft one are gone!
I also use a thinner, harder lead Prismacolor Verithin pencil in white for the rough draft and that made a big difference in not messing up little details thanks to a much thinner line.
I’m really excited to work on drawing and it should be a fun challenge because this will be my first full drawing since returning to art, it’s a different angle than I used to work from and the Luna is gorgeous!
Keep in mind I am considering this a “practice” drawing as I am just coming back to my art and I’m learning to work with new pencils and a new tone of paper so I’m going to learn as I go.
1 hour went into the rough draft plus the 3 hours photoshopping the reference photo and I’m hoping to get to the eyes (which are always my favorite) this weekend!
