Fleeting Faces series: XXVII
In my “Fleeting Faces” series, each artwork aims to capture the ephemeral and fragmented state of modern identity. I’m exploring how, in a digital world that moves at breakneck speed, our sense of self is distorted and often obscured. These pieces, with their smeared and abstracted facial features, is a testament to the disintegration of personal identity amidst the ceaseless tide of technology and information.
The palette and technique I chose are deliberate; they confront the observer with the stark and often starkly impersonal influence of digital media. The turbulent, almost violent brush strokes that mar the face speak to the chaos of data that bombards us, shaping and too often distorting our self-perception.
Each portrait in the series is a silent narrative of the struggle to maintain an authentic self in an age where images can be manipulated, identities can be stolen, and nothing seems to last. These pieces are visual metaphors for the inner tumult caused by the clash between our digital personas and our innate human need for connection, a dialogue between the seen and the unseen, the known and the unknowable.
Through “Fleeting Faces”, I’m inviting viewers to ponder the transient nature of the self within the digital landscape, where change is constant and reality is often a blurred boundary between the tangible and the virtual. This series is an ode to the search for a stable self in an unstable environment, a quest for true connection in a network of pixels.
