In lockdown we all spent a lot of time on social media, and were able to connect with and discover new people and businesses. Thanks to @oneforthewall I happened upon @sellnerdesign 's profile page!
Fast forward a couple of years, and Pamela recognized me in a post with one of @oneforthewall pictures, and reached out to me to ask how she could help support BiblioTake and the NICU.
As a fellow NICU mom, she knows what it's all about. She is also well versed in making a space happier, more authentic and joyful. She generously donated a design consult for our Bonus BiblioTake Spring Gift Box.

The inspiration behind our Gift Box Fundraiser was taken from the amazing work @thecuratorsshop did on behalf of @scotlandsyard_ .
The "modern day hunter gatherer" duo, Jodie and Leah have made an art out of connecting thoughtful giving with supporting local businesses. I am so grateful for Jodie's advice and moral support as this project took shape.
As any gift giver knows, the wrapping of a gift is just as important as what is inside. The Curator's generously donated the boxes for us to deliver these gift boxes in style.

Any NICU parent will tell you, there's no better human than a NICU nurse. These incredible individuals help us weather one of the toughest storms we will face as parents.
The compassion, care, empathy, sympathy and attention every single NICU nurse shows for the babies and families in their care is incredible. We thank nurses today, and everyday for being all kinds of wonderful.
We are so grateful to GRH NICU nurses for helping to make the BiblioTake program a success.

Since new symptoms have arisen from my head injury (very limited movement and lots of pain in my head / neck, shoulder, arms), the wonderful "WHOS" from @thefirm.murals and his team are doing the actual painting on the wall —bringing the art to life. They started yesterday! If you spot them, honk or wave hello! 🙌🏽

Last week, our CEO Mingjie Xie, Product Marketing Manager Weihao Tang, and HR Manager Frank Nemeth had the pleasure of touring the facilities at @grhospitalkw Regional Cancer Centre. Carla Girolametto, Director of Research, Innovation and Clinical Trials at Grand River Hospital, provided us with all the information of the services provided at the cancer treatment and research centre, as well as the history and logistics behind how the hospital was thoughtfully designed.
As a yearly donor to the @careneverstops, it was amazing to see just how much the local community plays a part in contributing to the daily lives of so many patients. We learned about the amazing work that so many of the doctors, nurses, and volunteers do to ensure that patients feel as comfortable as they can during a difficult time in their lives.

"We made a lot of noise this weekend. It was amazing to see the community come together. We are stronger together and this past weekend proved that. Walking for 24hrs isn’t something you can do alone. There is no such thing as a one-man show when it comes to doing something like this. I want to thank everyone who came out to walk. Being visible plays a vital role in making change. You showed our community that the underlying reason for the event has meaning in our community and that courage to create change in a positive way does work. This was a difficult thing to do. I struggled to sleep, stand, and eat afterward. Thank you to everyone who brought me food and water. Thank you to everyone who kept me talking and kept me out of my head when things got really difficult. A special thanks to those who walked through the night with me and to those who were there at the end in the rain. Your support has been seen and I’m sure much like I’ve learned that there are many more people paying attention than you may think. Hopefully, we’ve all recognized the value that action has in creating change, to create an impact." - Chris Costa

Any holiday spent in the NICU is difficult. This weekend in particular will be tough for NICU mamas, perhaps they won't see their older children, or maybe they will be separated from their infant for a stretch of time.
It's on days like Mother's Day, that the community support for BiblioTake is the most appreciated. I have heard from so many NICU parents over the last year- some who are in care and reaching out for advice, others who have gone home and sending along notes of gratitude.
This message came in a few weeks ago, and well it made me cry! This would not be possible without the generous support of the community and local businesses who have gone above and beyond.

The Health Innovation Challenge is officially launched! 🎉
Over the next 10 days @uofwaterloo students will work in teams to ideate and find a solution to the most pressing problems in health care.
In partnership with Grand River Hospital Foundation’s #CareNeverStops week, Velocity will work with 120 students in 30 teams to find innovation solutions to transform the lives of patients and health care workers.
As Moazam Khan, Director of Velocity health, said at yesterday’s launch event: “We need students with the drive, energy and compassion to solve these big problems - the world needs creative problem solvers like you.”
Six finalist teams will be chosen to pitch live at the Health Innovation Challenge finale at the first public event at SDG Ideas Factory in Downtown Kitchener on May 27th.

All done! Sad I was too unwell to make it to the unveiling today, but was glad to play a part in the design process for this 900-sq-ft 'Mural for Heroes' to honor the hard work of staff, caregivers, volunteers, and family members in caring for patients, especially during Covid.
Working night and day, often going unnoticed beneath the surface, they are the roots that feed the hospital's care (their logo is a lotus flower).
Thank you GRH Foundation @careneverstops for working with me, (please visit their profile to donate toward making the health care system better) ...and thank you @thefirm.murals and @allheartoa for stepping in fairly last-minute to do the on-site painting these past two weeks! You did a wonderful job. 🎉

The number of times I've been grateful for the medical care at Grand River Hospital (mostly over the last 7 years!) can now be counted on two hands; including the births of my babies, a surgically repaired broken tibia, and several other emergency visits for my family. 🙏 🤕
