If you wanna lose fat, you need to be in a calorie deficit. Which is how ANY diet works. It cuts things out, and the result is usually a calorie deficit. For example.... Paleo cuts out processed foods. If you were eating tons of processed foods before, you just reduced your overall calorie intake by hundreds of calories. Keto cuts out carbs. If you were eating tons of carbs before, you just reduced your overall calorie intake by hundreds of calories. And FYI I'm not a fan of any diet-with-a-name. My biggest problem with diets is the fear they create around certain foods or food groups. However, if you're following a diet because you have specific medical issues and your doctor/endocrinologist/dietician recommended you to follow a specific diet for specific medical condition, that's an entirely different thing. But I'm not talking about that (because I'm not qualified to). I'm talking about fat loss. Now, am I saying that calories are the only thing that's matters for fat loss? Of course not. I talk ton about protein, eating fruits and veggies, sleeping well, exercising, managing stress, etc. Calorie are NOT the only thing that matters for fat loss. #Day38 of Healing the Athlete - THE PURGE HAS BEGUN 🤡🎭😮‍💨 This past week I have felt more tired that I have ever felt in my life. I was upset at feeling so weak and defeated, but after a few conversations with some friends I truly realised after the amount that has happened to me in such short time, it’s a valid reaction. So what’s happened? ⬇️ Here’s the timeline⏳ 🫀At the end of November, I had sudden heart palpitations and went to Emergency to clear myself of a heart attack. ❤️‍🩹In Early December, I realised the stress on my heart was due to the constant stress of dealing with the dysfunction of my family 🎄I chose to spend Christmas alone as it was the only day I had to really stop and think. It was this day I decided to change my situation and made the decision to move - AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE 📦I spent all of January selling and clearing an entire house, planning and making arrangements for myself and the cat to get overseas. 🏋️‍♀️Throughout this time I also commenced my preparation for a Bodybuilding show I wanted to do in June. Long in short I chose a coach poorly and without the right care, my physical health then suffered greatly. ✈️🇦🇺✈️🇦🇪✈️🇪🇸✈️ 🛬Landing in Spain was a relief sure, but it was not the end 🚘The next 2 months were filled with a lot of movement. Moving cities and all of my things + 🐱3 times! 🪫A LOT of brain power to amalgamate to a new country and all that comes with it (language, customaries etc.) 💰In that time, I’ve also burnt through a f***load of money to survive I’m still f**kt at the moment, but no matter how long it takes or whatever detours I gotta take, WE WILL ACHIEVE ALL WE SET OUT TO DO. Tonight's dinner was based on the chicken and pesto gnocchi by @weighlesswith_jess, although with a few alterations based on what I had, and what I fancied, like the addition of sweetcorn, which I added for the colour, but was the perfect compliment of sweetness that this meal needed. It was really good, and a hit with both of my parents. LE MIE CIPOLLE AL FORNO: Quando a delle rondelle di cipolla bianca, che abbiamo appena seduto delicatamente su di un foglio di carta da forno naturale, decidiamo di donar loro come vestito con una pioggia di pangrattato, una spolverata di curcuma, semi di girasole e sale integrale del mediterraneo, ben presto ci renderemo conto che qualcosa di unico sta per accadere. Se, poi, a tutto questo uniamo una grattugiata leggera di pepe arcobaleno, una cascata di origano secco, appena sbriciolato con le mani, ed irroriamo il tutto con un filo d’olio evo (di quello buono), ecco che ha inizio quella che io definisco “POESIA IN CUCINA”. Quindi, terminiamo la preparazione con il calore del forno statico a 180 gradi per circa 35-40 minuti. Una volta giunti a questo punto non dobbiamo fare altro che assaporare l’indescrivibile dolcezza di queste sfoglie di cipolla, croccanti fuori e cremosissime all’esterno. Vi assicuro che ogni boccone sarà un vero e proprio viaggio sensoriale! Slow Cooker Chicken Wings Two Ways: Teriyaki-Ginger & Sweet 'n Spicy BBQ⁣ ⁣ I love chicken wings, but not all the fat and calories associated with the kind that are fried. So, I decided it was time to give slow cooker chicken wings a try.⁣ ⁣ Be sure to spread the wings out on a large cookie sheet and bake in the oven for about 10 minutes at 400F degrees. This browns the skin and keeps them from getting terribly slimy in the crock.⁣ ⁣ I do think this is an important step, even though I loathe cooking before I cook.⁣ ⁣ I'm glad I took this extra step. During baking, the wings released a LOT of water and grease that would have ended up in the crock pot, and significantly diluted the sauce!⁣ ⁣ We loved both batches of slow cooker chicken wings so much it's hard to chose a favorite.
