When many hear the word "demons," you may first think of scary movies, Halloween, or dark shadows in the night. But maybe these outer demons are just physical projections of our inner demons? Tom Aries' thoughts and reflections in April 2023: 📝 We post in the stories very often about the many positive reviews, feedback and successes on our wonderful musical journey. But of course there is also rejection or negative criticism. That's part of it. Every creative (whether in art, music, literature) knows that. Because it is often a question of individual taste. 💫 But sometimes I wonder what some feedback really says.... For example, a "playlist curator" wrote as a reason for rejection to one of our songs: "The song is super nice. Really very well done! But it doesn't sound modern according to our time, not like a hit song in the style of current chart artists. It sounds more like retro with futuristic elements and not mainstream enough. Change that and then it can be very good!". 💫 Hmmm. What does it mean when music is not mainstream or modern enough? Isn't good music timeless at best anyway? "Running Up That Hill" by Kate Bush is a good example. Was that modern and mainstream enough to be featured in Stranger Things and then in the charts in 2022 to be loved by everyone? Or isn't it just a really good song that will still be good in 100 years? Because it was made with heart and soul. And not to achieve the best possible chart position or to be commercially successful. For me the song sounds like 100% Kate Bush. Not like any other actual chart artists or mainstream. And that is very good! Unique sound is hard to achieve. She has it. ✨️ And we sound like MOON AND ARIES. We also don't want to make different music or change our style completely. Why should we? We make the music we love. That`s our true resolution. Based on our real feelings, experiences, stories we want to share.
