With the full moon coming on Monday and yesterday being Lughnasadh, this Sunday has a lively energy that you just can't shake. The “order” for this layout is clockwise, starting at the bottom (south) position. That’s how I drew the cards, turned them over, and attempted to read them. Each message made sense on its own. It wasn’t until they were all revealed that the wholeness of the story came into sharp focus. What they have for me reads counterclockwise from the right (east) station: . . My destiny is to step into my gifts. I will stop trying to make sense of it, and accept it with a loud “YES!” When my heart and soul are in alignment with this aim, my arrow will fly true without my interference. As I shared in my last post, I’ve been making a practice of staying in bed with my eyes closed upon waking as a form of meditation. This morning, I got hit between the eyes with a revelation I only vaguely - and privately - suggested yesterday. “You’re going to change the world with this! This is exactly the thing you’ve been manifesting! You said you didn’t want the limits of specificity, so here’s my Grand Plan for you. Surprise!” . . When I got up to face my day, all the “now what?” planning started taking over. All the specifics - who/what/where/when/why/how - started crowding into my mind. So I turned to the cards for guidance. I received a “but first” and a “here’s your incredibly powerful role.” . . It’s okay to grieve a life that you once believed was possible - even if you now know it never served your highest calling. Spend some time with that loss. Acknowledge that things are going to change. Trust that all you need will be provided to you. . . My eyes were immediately drawn to the tiny female hummingbird with the infinity symbol above her head and felt her invitation to be a source of inspiration and connection to the Divine. She’s not showy or bold, but her role in bringing joy is important. Without a creator, nothing would be created. I do not need to be out in front. I can feel secure in the knowledge that my contributions to the world will have a mighty impact - even when I’m not immediately visible. Resting in the background and noticing important things is my strength. Actually, I prefer NOT to participate in the “hustle.” It’s okay to allow others to use my strong foundation and be inspired by my words in order to build a beautiful new world. Today’s deep dive into grief, courtesy of the Universe: After watching Martín Prechtel’s talk at the 2015 Minnesota Men’s Conference yesterday, I felt called to make space for grief in my life as a companion to praise. I received a second invitation from yesterday’s pick-a-card reading from @goldenbee_tarot_reiki in the form of The Hermit and Death. They seemed to tell me to look within to mourn. At the time, I acknowledged that I contain a lot of undigested grief, but I wasn’t sure how to allow the tears to flow. . . This morning, I recalled that the above-referenced conference was established by Robert Bly, and I was fairly certain I owned one of his books. (It was part of a syllabus for an honors course in college - either on Self & Others or Death & Dying. I can’t recall which. Both seem appropriate.) In searching for it, I came across “Psalms of Lament” by Ann Weems. Okay, then, that seems appropriate, too. Into the pile you go. I also found my little-used copy of “A Little Book on the Human Shadow.” It was on my bookshelf, directly in my line-of-sight (second pic) from where I make my magic. Duh! I guess I needed to find the other book first and immediately. . . So I opened my Psalm book, randomly, to Lament Psalm Twenty-five (third & fourth pics). And I had my breath wholly - and holy - taken away. I’d requested these tears of grief in order to make space for the whole of my soul, and here they were. I don’t know what comes next, and that’s okay. I know I have all that I need within me to witness the grief of the world - and my own. You do, too. . . All is well and as it must be. So may it be. GLEBE (Noun) Turf; soil; ground; sod. Etymology: From Latin glēba "lump of earth, a clod". GLIB (medieval hairstyle) Seen as a particularly Irish haircut it was despised by the English establishment and attempts were made to outlaw it in 1537 and again in the 1570s. However, it remained persistently popular and appears to have been worn as badge of honour amongst Irish kerns (soldiers/ warriors). . . I have been wearing my hair with glibs for well over a decade now. In fact many of my friends have never known me without them. I remember choosing to put them in my hair as a way to honour my ancestors and to honour the path I was forging for myself. I saw myself as both a rebel and a warrior. After I put in my glibs I began seeking out martial arts studios and eventually found my first fencing school. I have ceremoniously cut off parts of them before. I have also had the gods and nature intervene and take off parts of my glibs on their own. However now I feel it is time that I shed my glibs completely. This decision has not come lightly. It has been meditated on for nearly a year. Right now my glibs- my roots- are holding too many burdens and too many memories and experiences that need to be completely shed. I need to let them go. And just as my Irish ancestors had to burn turf to keep themselves warm through the darker months of year, I shall take my glibs and burn them- like the lumps of earth they were named after- and then burry the ashes in the Earth. I have decided that I shall do this on the Samhain Full Moon, just over three weeks from now. This is when the wheel of the year turns over to the darker half. This seems like the absolutely best time to bring this sacrifice- this letting go- into my Samhain ritual for this year. As a witch I find comfort and validation through acts of ceremony, the performance of rites, holding tribute, and the connecting the symbols that tie ourselves and our experiences to the greater world around us, and beyond us. Story time for ya'll! As brunch finished, my friends and I were chatting and this amazing gentlemen recognized me becauae he saw me on Tik Tok. And I was so surprised and shy about it. He asked for a photo and my friends took one for me too for I appreciate it. He wished me nothing but the best and had me sing Happy Birthday to someone he was with a huge amount of people and I did! They felt so amazing about it! It feels SUPER amazing to receive so much love from people who see you on a platform yet don't even know you.
