Each year 36 students are awarded Naughton Scholarships. ⭐️ There is at least one winner from each County in the Republic of Ireland. 📌 The scholarship is intended as a reward and encouragement to exceptional students who would like to study in the STEM field (science, technology, engineering and maths) at University. Placement in Portugal for Food Science and Nutrition student 🌞 Meet Leah Michaelides, a current 4th year student studying Food Science and Nutrition at ATU Donegal 📚 In her third year, Leah was one of the first students in the course to do the work placement abroad, which was introduced into the programme in 2022. 🌟 When not taking in the sights and scenery of Portugal, Leah was working for a company called Nurservicio. During her time in the company, Leah would have weekly research projects to report on. There’s always reasons to smile when you’re a student on DCU St Pat’s Campus 🤩 And final year student Deirdre can’t speak more highly of her choice of studying BEd Gaeilge and French (or German or Spanish) “I am a Final Year DCU student, studying a Bachelor of Education in Gaeilge with French or German or Spanish. I chose this course because I want to become a secondary school language teacher. The course is also offered at other universities in the country, but I chose DCU for a few reasons. When I was in Leaving Cert, I visited the DCU campuses on Open Day and I loved the welcoming and vibrant atmosphere of the university. Also, the structure of the course at DCU really appealed to me. Over the four years of the course, I have completed extensive School Placements, an Erasmus Placement in France, and I have spent time working in the Gaeltacht during the summer. We are a small but mighty, tight-knit Final Year class. Getting to know all of my classmates and lecturers on a personal level has really enriched my studies over the last four years. Being a student at DCU has prepared me very well for my career as a teacher. The Central Applications Office (CAO) has today announced the date for Round One offers Round One offers for school leaving applicants will issue on Wednesday, 28 August at 2pm. Round Two offers will follow on Monday, 9 September at 2pm.
