Your clients’ ability to produce sufficient hydrochloric acid can have many profound downstream effects on their health. Welcome to Fit & Fueled Midlife! I hit 40 two years ago and felt so lost. My body didn't feel like my own anymore. I was tired all the time & needed a nap most days despite sleeping 8 hours at night. I was too tired to workout and slowly felt my identity slipping away ( more on that later) My muscle was slowly fading and I seemed to rapidly be gaining weight. Here's a list of seeds to consider adding to your grocery list and why they could be helpful for your gut health. 👉 Chia seeds are a nutrient rich superfood that pack a lot of punch for their size. Just a 1 oz serving of chia seeds contain 10.6 grams of fiber! Moreover, chia seeds are good sources of omega 3s, magnesium, manganese, and protein. 👉 Flax seeds are just behind chia seeds for their fiber content - 7.8 grams in a 1 oz serving. And, also like chia seeds, contain omega 3s, magnesium, manganese, and protein. Keep in mind, though, that the omega 3s in flax seeds are in their husk which can be hard to digest so ground flax is a better option. 👉 Pumpkin seeds also contain fiber, protein, and healthy fats, and, in addition, have magnesium, which supports proper muscle function and aids in healthy digestion and regularity. 👉 Sunflower seeds are an another good source of fiber, healthy fats, and essential minerals. And, they are filled with vitamin E, serving as an antioxidant and supporting gut health. 👉 According to WebMD (2009), caraway seeds can be used for heartburn, bloating, gas, appetite problems, spasms of the stomach and intestines, and as a laxative, stating that more evidence may be needed. 👉 Hemp seeds are an excellent source of vegetarian protein. In fact, they contain more than 30% protein, as well as many other essential nutrients. Aiding digestion, just one oz of hemp seeds contains 45% of your daily recommended intake of magnesium. 6| Your sleeping pattern 🌱 To support your journey to wellness, it’s important to look at your sleep hygiene and start to include behaviours that help improve sleep, such as adequately preparing for sleep, engaging in physical activity during the daytime, and practising relaxation techniques in the evening. Prepare for sleep by creating a bedtime routine that promotes mental and physical rest, eliminating caffeinated drinks, dimming the lights, and engaging in calming activities such as reading. It is also a good idea to enforce a regular bedtime and wake time. Increasing physical activity during the day promotes good quality sleep.
