β’ Also topped with maple syrup. Sugars and syrups count towards our free sugar intake (any sugar added to a food, not including those naturally present in milk/fruit). We should limit our free sugar intake to no more than 5% of our total energy intake - this doesnβt mean we have to avoid added sugars if they are something we enjoy, but we should be mindful of the total amount we have over the day/week, bearing in mind there may be the occasional day (like a birthday or special occasion) where we may have more than normal - and this is okay!
