Stuck between a nut and a hard spot. As I was taking one of the casters off, the bolt twisted in half, leaving the threaded section of the bolt stuck in the captive nut. There are LOTS of ways to deal with this problem, but this is what I did.
I sprayed some penetrating fluid on the threads. Won't hurt and might help, bit I still need a way to grip the now-headless bolt. Fortunately, there was enough of the bolt sticking out on the other side for a trick I have been wanting to try. I screwed another nut on the threads, as far as it would go. I welded the nut to the threads, then tried to remove the Franken-bolt with a wrench on the new bolt 'head.' Twice, the nut just twisted off...that bolt was stuck good. Fortunately, I'm the one who welded those captive nuts on in the first place. A couple of minutes with a cutoff wheel and the welder and I'll have a new captive nut in place.
