Im not able to travel this summer but I’m managing to have an active, cool time. We played a gig in Salem MA last night. Before the show I snuck onto the set of the new Adam Sandler Halloween movie they’re filming up there. That’s his back in the third picture, with the orange patch on his shirt. It’s was cool. We stayed in a cheap hotel after the gig and Cory, Kelley, and I stayed up late drinking beers and watching Repo Man on the tv. Today we went to the Hampton Beach boardwalk and walked around. There’s a throwback Rock N Roll shop that’s been there forever that still has tons of old stock. I bought a bunch of buttons, including this prismatic early 80s Van Halen, pin, which is pretty intense. The boardwalk in Hampton is a total trip. It’s pretty easy to Imagine the scene in the 80s, when this pinback was made. Guys in muscular sport cars prowling the strip, blaring hair metal and looking for trouble. Kids lined up in the arcades to pump quarters into arcade games. It’s still basically the same. The beach pizza stands, guys making airbrushed shirts, and shops selling beach towels and suntan oil are all still there. It seems like they’re trying to clean it up but we definitely saw two women fistfight each other and a bunch of teenagers who were drunk at 2 in the afternoon. So it still has that going for it.
