Teaching isn't just about transferring knowledge. It's definitely not about showcasing your skills.
Teaching is about inspiring people to take action and deepen their knowledge over a subject or a field.
Teaching Krav Maga is complicated, because our goal is to actually inspire people to tap into something they've been conditioned to avoid their whole lives - violence and aggression. And through it, we teach people how to conquer violence, aggression and themselves, and finally be able to stand up.
I see a lot of martial artists trying to boast how tough they are - for me that's usually a red flag, showing lack of confidence in their abilities, lack of confidence in who they are, and lack of confidence in their ability to share knowledge and skills with others - in the end, they miss the point of martial arts, miss the point of self defence and miss the point of teaching.
The whole "Send me to the wolves and I'll come back leading them?"... How about we ask why they keep sending you to the wolves?
