Renault 4 CV. This car has a fascinating history: secret development in Nazi occupied France, the mysterious death of Louis Renault and his replacement by a Resistance leader, the immediate postwar visit of Ferdinand Porsche to advise on the project and his arrest by French authorities for allegedly using forced labour at Volkswagen. The first cars, delivered in 1947, were painted a sand yellow colour using paint left over from the production of Nazi army vehicles at Renault for the North Africa campaign. This colour and the shape of the 4CV earned it its French nickname: motte de beurre (lump of butter).
