It’s been 25 years since the original film was released and in that time Africa’s lion population has been halved due to a variety of threats that include poaching and destruction of habitats. It is estimated that there are only about 20,000 lions left in the wild. However, research suggests that this number can be strengthened by protecting the habitats they share with people and other wildlife. As Mufasa rightly points out, it’s about balance and respect for the contribution each animal makes to their habitat.
