So, I’ve been wanting to binge the various Cutie Honey related media that’s been released for a while now. My overall thoughts on the original 1972 manga is that... it’s super dated, but still fun. It doesn’t have the timeless quality that Devilman has, in my opinion, but Cutie Honey is an interesting piece of manga history that I’m glad I took the time to go through. To my surprise, there was a series last year (the same year as Devilman Crybaby) that adapted the original manga of Cutie Honey, which is Cutie Honey Universe (apparently). How I missed this, no idea... might have to do with the fact that the series was a HighDive exclusive. Still stoked to check it out. I’d recommend Cutie Honey for historical purposes and kinda cheap entertainment, as long as you’re willing to look past the... problematic elements, to put it lightly. -Nate
