I struck out on Saturday night at both locations for witnessing the northern lights; clouds were the deciding factor. I was pretty bummed, since I was up till 230ish driving and shooting at locations with little results...But, I knew we had Sunday night as well.

On Sunday, I stayed at the lake from 10pm to 1am taking many exposures. The lights were popping off around 11ish and I used my star tracker for ultra long exposures to capture all the color, light and beams shooting up in the sky. In doing so, I could capture the stars with the lights as well and not get trails. But, I had to double expose the foreground cause the tracker causes so much blur as it tracks the night sky. Therefore, I put my tripod high to get the angle of the dock for the foreground.
To the naked eye, the northern lights usually don’t look this intense here in Montana, but with my knowledge of the camera, sky tracking system, and post processing, I can pull a lot of color and light from the sky.
I combined several of the images to produce the most beams from several minutes of the best part of the light show.
The lights weren't the strongest I've seen, but wow, they were beautiful. —————————————————————————-
Sept. 1-2, 2019
Northern Lights
Lake, McDonald, Glacier National Park———————————————————————————
#montanamoment #visitmontana #nationalparkgeek #nightskyphotography #lensbible #artofvisuals #milkyway_nightscapes #milkywayphotography #earthfocus #glaciernps #wildernessculture #tentree #northernlights #depthobsessed #visualsofearth #canon #artofvisuals #stargazing #igshotz #auroraborealis #aurora #earthoffical #milkywaychasers #natgeo #montana #usinterior #milkyway #nightsky #glaciernationalpark #northernlightsphotos

I combined several of the images to produce the most beams from several minutes of the best part of the light show.
The lights weren't the strongest I've seen, but wow, they were beautiful. —————————————————————————-
