In honor of #WorldLizardDay which was this last Wednesday, we wanted to ask, #DYK that one characteristic of the Northern Alligator Lizard is a fold of skin on each side of their body? This prominent longitudinal fold allows for the expansion of the lizard's sides when the animal is feeding, breathing, or pregnant. They will even sometimes puff up their bodies when threatened, though most found in this area will flee conflict if possible.
