πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡² American Standard Dog Training Tip of the Day 🐢: "Dogs are much more visual learners then they are audible. Therefore they can learn hand commands faster and more easily than voice commands. Think about it...when two dogs are walking towards each other on the sidewalk πŸ• 🐩 they don't talk to each other with their voices by barking a whole conversation or stopping to listen to each other with their ears. It's always visual with communication by body language with posturing, position of tail, ears, etc. Looking across the street at each other then can't always smell each other but they can see what the other dog is communicating (i want to play, i want to fight, i am timid). When training and communicating with your dog you have to be mindful of what your body language and movement is telling the dog vs. what you're actually trying to tell the dog to do. For instance, chasing your dog down the street with a sandal in your hand noticeably upset looking like you're going to whack the dog over the head and at the same time telling him to come to you in the sweetest voice you can muster probably won't work out the way you hoped." πŸ˜‰

In this video, I'm getting some reps in with Max and transitioning from hand commands to voice commands. I try to keep my physical movement crisp and clear and to a minimum. Max is almost there and you can see him starting to beat me to the floor before the hand command is finished. This is one method of training a down by voice that has consistently worked well for me. Good job Max πŸ‘πŸŽ–οΈπŸ‘πŸ†
#goldenretriever #goldenretrieverpuppy #dogsofinstagram #professional #dogtrainer #dogtraining #puppytraining #obedience #cratetraining #markertraining #boarding #dog #puppy #pet #housedog #housepet #positivereinforcement #southflorida #southfloridadogtrainer #southfloridadogtraining
