By the beginning of the 20th century, the Sunbeam buildings as they are known today, was one of the most important flax spinning mills in Ireland and by the mid 1980’s employed over 3,500 people until it closed in 2003 due to a fire. The picture above is the most recent fire to plague the building in August 2019. No one was hurt during the fire as the building is abandoned
