One of the first poetry collections I’ve read in a while, and one I really enjoyed. I understand there has been a rise in ‘modern-contemporary’ poems, or ‘tumblr-speak.’ From what I’ve seen people either love or hate it. This was such a beautiful collection of poems. I don't usually read poems. I've read very few poetry books, but I kept stumbling upon this book, Behind the Light, over and over so I finally decided to read it. And I am so glad that I did!
The poems are so well written, and the best thing about it is that everyone can relate to it. Aahana Mulla has written it in a very simple way, but the message it gives, the impact it has is very strong. It will leave you wanting more and you'll be grateful for its existence.

Each poem focused on honest descriptions of what it means to be human. While the focus of this book is on Author's lived experience, there is enough insight and beauty here for everyone. Title: Contemplative

Staring at the sunset after a seemingly long time,
I realize that life is quite similar to my living room's hanging chimes.
Sometimes creating pleasant music -
Than soothes the mind, the soul, the spirit.
Yet otherwise just stays plain and still -
Waiting for the next breeze to push it to do what it will.
