I learned something today. Something I really already know, that I strive towards, but it became a clear lesson today. Never give up. No matter how hard it gets. No matter how easy it would be to quit. No matter the obstacles in front of you. Keep going. The reward will be beautiful, whatever it may be. I went on my first ever solo hike, 1.5 miles and 120ft elevation changes. There came a point where I had to go down a valley and climb rocks and roots to get to the other side. I almost gave up right then and there. Almost gave up. Almost said, I can’t do this, I’ll just turn around. Almost let my negative thoughts win. But I didn’t. I took a minute to ground myself and I did the damn thing. And the payoff was monumental. A beautiful summit vista on Mt Ascutney with an elevation of 3144ft. There was actually a hang glider platform that hung over the mountain side. The only real way to describe it is to say that it was truly a spiritual experience, to be wholly and completely one with nature. As always, this world never ceases to amaze me.
