As I didn’t get chance to go inside Roskilde Cathedral, I headed back to Copenhagen and went to the Rundetårn instead. The Rundetårn (round tower) church was built by King Christian IV and served as a library for the university and an observatory as well as a church. It has an unusual structure with a ramp rather than steps in the tower (Tsar Peter the Great of Russia once went up there on his horse). On a good day like today, there are outstanding views of Copenhagen and the surrounding area to be had from the viewing platform at the top of the tower 😍
