NOT EASY, BUT DONE!
The LONG RUN run is by far my favorite! Anyone else? 🙋♀️
.
But today did not come easy. For the past 3 weeks I've been focusing on getting more sleep, but I always have one set back - taking my grandpa to the ER, then Ragnar. And although this week was very productive, each night I got to bed later than I wanted.
Last night instead of going to bed at 8, it was 10:30 after mowing and freezing green beans. This morning I woke up from a deep sleep and didn’t want to get up. 😴 🛏 BUT I did! Luckily a friend was going to run with my for an hour at 5:15am and that got me out the door. And thank goodness she was there to talk my ear off so I could avoid thinking about being tired.
AND the last three weekends I haven’t gotten as long of runs in as I wanted. 🤦🏻♀️ 16 miles the weekend before a half marathon, then a half marathon, and then 23 miles broken up during Ragnar last weekend. I was getting worried since I’m 6 weeks out from Twin Cities, but I SHOWED UP and GOT IT DONE! 💯
.
➡️ 22 miles at an 8:13min/mi pace focusing on keeping my pace slower and my heart rate low. It felt great!
.
➡️ That’s what matters. That you SHOWED UP! 💥 Endurance doesn’t come easy – it comes with CONSISTENCY. And CONSISTENCY is my superpower. Consistency in my nutrition, strength training and running. Keep showing up, be consistent, and enjoy the journey because it’s a good one!
Now to finish mowing, get decking from Home Depot, meal prep, do some stretching and yoga, and then we are off to the lake!
Happy Saturday!
