Some days I just want it all to go away. Helplessness overcomes me. I think of that scene in the film #howtoletgooftheworld where Josh Fox starts sobbing as he talks to a climate scientist, and then I think of the dead echidna on the side of the road that I cycled past last week, and how fast and big our society is that we leave no space for the other inhabitants of this Earth. I remember the blank faces of people in the city, buying their stuff and eating factory farmed chicken while planes fly overhead and cars swarm all around us.
It makes me want to stop caring. Stop trying. Give up and pretend it's not happening.
But then I remember that we are here at this time with the chance to make a difference.
And that giving up is not an option.
This drawing shows the things that get me going again. I hope they're helpful for you in your dark hours. We all feel despair: remember that you're not alone.
