All my knitting has stories and history.
In this one - the sea. The silhouetted lines of the mountains. Past journeys to the Outer Hebrides and future ones to Tibet.
I used yarn purchase on my travels @uistwool @olann.ie and chose them for this project because of the colour which reminded me of the sea and the Arctic sky; and the warmth, softness and resilience of the wool to keep me snug on an upcoming journey in a vintage open car.
The wonderful design is Samen by @westknits which is a perfect foundation for my memories and vision.
When I make and wear something which has such meaning, it feels so wholesome to me. I feel settled and content. It’s hard to explain how nourished I feel when I’m both knitting and wearing items which have evolved from my experience and stories.
I’ve had another go at being on the other side of the lens than which I’m accustomed :) .. and felt lovely to be able to feel comfortable having my photograph taken in anticipation of sharing my joy in completing this beautiful shawl.
