I recently returned from NYC. I've always wanted to paint the Statue of Liberty for the sake of its beauty and symbolism, but nothing moved me more than visiting it in person, taking in the closeups seeing the details, adsorbing it through my eyes, mind, and camera lens, and feeling the immensity of this piece of art and what it means to us and the rest of the world. Visiting Ellis Island added layers of stories and I imagine not only this is a symbol for us, but probably the symbol of mankind. Stay tuned as I'm just working out the drawing right now and it’s rough looking.
