I wasn’t going to post this but then I thought why the hell not...this is my shameless I’m really proud of myself post.⛰
This year has been trying for sure and because it’s been trying I’ve let my self care dwindle to pretty much nonexistent. I stopped meditating, making me more irritable and mean hearted. I stopped working out because it was easier to sit on the couch after my latest ankle surgery. I started making so many excuses, because I could, and the person who I was cheating was myself.⛰
In June I stopped making excuses...I rejoined the gym and I finished Ankle physical therapy. I was ready to become a better version of myself, again. I started meditating on the summer solstice and made it a point to hike at least once every week to be one with my natural self.⛰
I felt amazing...then I got on the scale and regardless of all my other accomplishments, having functional ankles and becoming one with my own energy... I could only focus on how disappointing the number was... ⛰
Well...today I said screw it and we went for a pretty decent hike. Mind you, I was in sandals and I didn’t shy away from the incline. I set an awesome pace and made it up in no time and then bouldered across the top BAREFOOT like it was nothing. I took some time to reflect and when I opened my eyes I realized what I just did and how during the spring I would have just made an excuse to not go. I climbed a rocky incline without stopping then I scaled boulders barefoot on the top of the mountain and wasn’t worried about my ankles for the first time in 8 years. ⛰
So yeah...it was a pretty dope feeing to open my eyes after some breathing meditation and look out over the Big Survey without a single ounce of pain and hear my innerwild woman whisper “We Did It”
