For all you Nashville folks looking for a day trip, Cummins Falls was fantastic!!.
.
Exactly a 90 minute drive, the Falls are accessible only by a hike about 1.5miles long through a wooded little canyon.
.
Some of my tips:
• Try to get there early, we left Nashville at 9am and arrived at 10:30am which was perfect to avoid major crowds and before it got too hot. Entrance is FREE.
• Allot at least two hours to hike out to the waterfall and back- there is only one way in and out. Leave enough time to take pics, hang by the Falls.
• Wear sneakers with grip or hiking shoes. Don’t wear flip flops like my friend Chelsea did (!) and don’t wear water shoes like Monica did (!) bc they’re too slippery. There are several sections you have to cross a river and the rocks are covered with algae and are super slippery!!
• Pets are allowed on a leash so of course I brought Poppy- but make sure your pets feel comfortable scampering over rocks and crossing the river.
• Bring a light backpack to carry water, sunscreen, snacks.
• Wear a bathing suit underneath your clothes (my whole group forgot this), so you can go under the waterfall or even dip into the water hole/pool.
• For the car ride home: bring a pair of flip flops to change into (your shoes and socks WILL get wet!), a towel to dry off (and to wipe off your dog!), and more snacks bc all of a sudden every one is super hungry on the car ride home!!.
.
Thanks to @styleblueprintnville for the recommendation! Do you all have any recs on Nashville adventures/day trips? ☀️ .
.
.
.
#middletennessee #waterfalls #cumminsfalls #stateparks #adventures #daytripping #daytripper #roadtrip #exploring #nashville #brentwood #franklin #tennessee
