Being blessed with some RAIN up in the bay area yesterday, we are feeling the sense of a fresh start. Our theme this week is PURIFICATION- of body, mind & spirit. Cleansing from your past so you can begin with a "clean slate". 💧
Purification of body might look like a daily shower and eating clean food. Purification of mind can be meditating or processing and journaling. Spiritual purification can be smudging yourself with sage or using crystals to help deepen your connection with Spirit. 💧
On our retreat in Mexico, we had the privilege of experiencing a Temazcal- a ceremonial purification ritual with roots in Mexico's Mayan civilization. The Temazcal is a traditional steam bath that takes place in a dome-shaped structure made of stone or mud and the ceremony lasts 2 hours. This is a ritual practice that uses traditional healing methods to encourage reflection and introspection. While the body rids itself of toxins through sweating, the spirit is renewed through ritual. The Temazcal is said to represent the womb and people coming out of the bath are, in a symbolic sense, re-born. 💧
