Nietzsche did not believe that people were allowed to feel things without cause. Everything deserved some justification, and it was not fair or healthy to have one thought or one feeling, and then ignore its cause or what it might mean. This he would say caused people to lead lives in which they were separate individuals; without one stream lined conscious thought.
