Pull-ups can be tough. I’ve witnessed client after client struggle to get their chin over the bar when they first start training with me

Guess what? Just like everything in life, you’ve got to practice. Repetition breeds success
.
Think of pull-ups as squats for your legs - basically if you could only do one upper body exercise, this is the most important, much like squats are for legs
.
One great way to get good at pull-ups if you cannot do any, is to jump up to the bar. Hold the top position as long as possible and lower yourself as slow as possible
.
Do that for 2-3 sets of 15 reps even if you aren’t holding for as long as you’d like. Rest 2-3 minutes between sets to make sure you’re not teetering out because of lactic acid, but rather from mechanical failure for optimal gains
