❗️NECK TRAINING❗️<br />▪️<br />“Every one pound increase in neck strength leads to a decrease in five percent chance of sustaining a concussion.” - Collins et al. (2014)<br />▪️<br />For full contact or collision sports, neck strengthening regiments are becoming significantly more prominent due to the increased awareness for injury reduction in these types of sports. Specifically, many coaches are utilizing these protocols for concussion and traumatic brain injury (TBI) reduction,  which evidence supports.<br />▪️<br />If we as performance coaches claim to address the demands of each sport in order to reduce injury and increase performance, neck training is a must, and should stay consistent in one’s training if concussions are abundant in their sport(s).<br />▪️<br />Here’s an example of a basic progression that we have utilized with our professional MMA fighter @danteschiro .<br />▪️<br />We typically start with basic manual isometric holds and then begin to utilize positions specific to the sport and add perturbations.<br />▪️<br />#Performance
