Today was a flashback for our city and my family of a catastrophic event that forever changed us just two years ago exactly. USA Today called it worse than Hurricane Harvey, as an unexpected tropical storm sat over us, once again, dropping crazy amounts of rain fall during a short period of time. Up to 45” of rain has fallen around us. Most of it happened over night and people woke up to the same situations they found themselves just 2 years ago. It’s heartbreaking!
.
I asked you guys to pray for our city and by the hundreds of DM’s y’all have sent, it looks like y’all did just that!! 🙌🏼 I’m just sitting down from day break but I wanted to jump on here and tell you THANK YOU!! I appreciate you so much for taking the time to think of us! I know that prayer is a powerful tool, it works and it moves the hand of God. Our city needed it and still needs it, as lots of areas were called for mandatory evacuations today. I’ve wept today, a lot, over the people in our city because this is too soon for everything we faced just 2 years ago. So many people have just finished rebuilding. Some were still working on their homes and once again they are flooded by an unexpected storm.
.
Your prayers worked because the rains started to lighten up, which was what we needed so things would not get any worse than it is. Our home is safe and we are believing that our families homes will be safe too. We packed things high at my parents home today before they had to evacuate. Please continue to pray as we wait for the waters of the river and bayou to crest.
.
I was suppose to leave this morning for my trip to #roundtoptexas and stay at the fabulous Wander Inn of @junkgypsy but there will always be another time. 🧡 Two years ago taught me how things can change suddenly and how precious life really is. I never go a day without a grateful heart, even when I lost just about everything I had. Value is not placed in things but people and moments. Memories live on in your heart, they are not placed on a possession. At any moment, that can be gone. We build moments that will impact eternity. It just reminds me how things can be so trivial when others are facing such tragedy.
