Three years ago, when I decided climbing was gonna be my thing, I set a lofty goal for myself. Lead a 5.12 outside. Now that it's done, what's next? Do I rest on the fruits of my labor? Pursue the next big challenge?
I reflected on the past summer and man, was it a grind. So many late night gym sessions trying to squeak out one more climb, one more set. The worst part was trying to figure out dinner when everything is already closed. Then when I started attempting the goal, every week was full of anxiety. I'd be so nervous the night before, wrestling with doubt, and can barely sleep. Why did I choose this for myself? This is what I do for fun?
So what next? Honestly I'm not done. I'm happy but not satisfied. There's so much more to learn and I haven't found my limits yet. I feel less pressure now, no longer burdened by doubt. But still driven to try my best. I guess this is fun. This is love for the game. The stoke is 🔥.
