A lunar Landscape. .

This is a fantastic drive through a landscape that could be from another planet. This area was used as Jupiter for filming in the 2001 Space Odyssey movie.
It's known as the Golden Road as it was rumoured to have cost so much to build. This is on the south east of Harris and goes from Rodel up to Tarbert. An absolute must if you are ever in the area.
The road constantly winds up and down through the barren landscape with tiny villages scattered about. It cuts through Lewisian Gneiss, the oldest exposed rock in the world, 3000 millions years old! .
