Legend has it that the chapel of Agios Nikolaos Krasas was built in 1619 by captain Kasimatis after a promise he made to Saint Nicholas, the protector of the sailors for the Greeks, when he was threatened by a storm. He would built a church using the wine from his ship’s cargo to make the mud for the structure. And there came the name Saint Nicholas “of the wine”, in greek “Krasas”.
