Meet a few of our hardest working employees. These dermestid beetles never take a day off. They are like tiny vultures, and love to eat dried out “dead stuff.” Don't worry they're not interested in us at all - since we're still alive.⠀

We use them to prepare new specimens and reach tiny crevices, like nasal turbinates. One colony is always on display at the museum, and every few days, we give them a new animal skull to munch on (and a little spritz of water). #familydinnertime⠀
