How does creating visual art out of words change the reading process for viewers?

I don't know that it really does change the reading process for others, but I think it encourages it by inviting the viewer to also be a reader. Since my art contains words, the message is there on two levels at least. One of those levels is very literal via the written words and the meanings that come with them. So now you're viewing the work and you're reading the work and you're interpreting the work and when you're reading it, you're hearing it in your head. As soon as you see my art you will unconsciously read the word right away and then you will hear them in your head. Whether you're fully conscious of that or not, that does happen.

Has your handwriting changed over the years of making handwritten murals?

My handwriting will never really change — It's almost like my fingerprint. But my presentation of my various styles of handwriting has expanded. My range of the styles of writing I present has widened over the years, but it is all my handwriting. I've done big letters, smaller letters, very symmetrical letters, very linear lines, very perfect and symmetrical linear looks. And then I've done also very asymmetrical, free-flowing random placements of text.
