Around that time, i lurked around message boards and various online resources to find what would be the BEST. Conjugate Training is also known as the conjugate method. It was the brain child of Louis Simmons and combined Russian and Bulgarian methods of training for powerlifting. Those methods were integral to me hitting a 475 lb squat(one of the best on the team) with only 6 months of training. It changed the way i trained forever and i did it without drugs or extra "help".⁣
⁣
Who Is It For?⁣
⁣
I think that this program philosophy can be beneficial for athletes and or trainees looking to get bigger and stronger. For athletes in strength based sports, this would be a no brainer. In many gyms, there seems to be an over emphasis on getting things as fast as possible. Where do you go when your hypertrophy(size) training program gets old, stale, or doesn't work anymore? TRAIN STRENGTH! It is arguable that strength gains lead to longer lasting gains in size as well. One such study found that "high-intensity (3–5 RM), low-volume resistance training program utilizing a long rest interval (3 min) is more advantageous than a moderate intensity, high-volume (10–12 RM) program utilizing a short rest interval (1 min) for stimulating upper body strength gains and muscle hypertrophy in resistance-trained men"(source) over 8 weeks.
