1 ➡️ 2 ➡️ 3 ➡️ Swipe for three pictures. ⚠️Caution: A somewhat disturbing story. The scene is a river in the mountains.<br />This is David from Germany; he and his dad (not shown) are athletes. His Dad recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and made David jump over the river again here in British Columbia so I could take pictures. They were really helpful as I had not been over to the other side before and gave me tips. The river looks shallow and calm but there are parts where it is deep and fast. A park ranger estimated the temperature to be between 10 and 12°C as it comes from a glacier. There are waterfalls here. After they left I went exploring on the far side and miscalculated the distance on a rock face and fell into a deep part of the river. My body went numb from the cold. I was pushed around by the strong current despite swimming. Fortunately I did not panic and let the current take me to a place where I managed to find a rock. I tried to pull out but slipped back in. After a third try I pulled myself out of the water thanks to adrenaline. One of the waterfalls was just 8 metres away. At one point in the river I looked up and saw a tourist watching in horror, her face and hands similar to this😱. Anyway I learnt my lesson. I had mild hypothermia for about 12 hours but was fine after.
