Sometimes it can feel scary to truly express ourselves, without masks, because we’re afraid of others’ judgment or lack of approval/acceptance.
After all, that’s why you became so skilled at masking, right?
Yet those masks and bending to show up the way others will most accept us is really exhausting. And after awhile, we lose touch with our true selves.
That’s especially painful.
We dim our lights until we feel lost in the dark. (Re)Connecting with ourselves and then expressing ourselves switches our inner light back on.
Yes, it may mean some will judge and not understand.
But ... others will celebrate you (even if they don’t always understand). I want to see your light shining bright—exactly as you are ... even if there’s only a few people you feel safe to do that with. Even if you choose to simply truly express yourself when you’re by yourself.
