My plumeria, Stitch, is in his third summer. Over the years, I’ve protected him from root rot and sunburn, hurricanes and cold snaps. I’ve repotted him three times, researched numerous fertilizers, and gently wiped his leaves free of spider mites. Last week, on my birthday, his first flower opened up.
This is the first plant I’ve been able to keep alive for longer than a season. He has opened my eyes to the joys of gardening. I now have vegetables, herbs, fruit bushes, and three more plumeria plants growing in my yard. Mahalo nui loa, Stitch, for turning my thumb green.
