After a long drive to the Columbia River and a long drive home I have no energy to edit pics (or add commas) but I did take one on my phone. We went to a couple places Amy found and they are pretty unique. This is Beacon Rock (or, as we are calling it, Castle Rock). The climb was treacherous in the rain and the view was nearly eliminated by clouds and fog, but the experience was amazing. As with everything in this area of Washington, Lewis and Clark were there. As we drove, I found it hard to believe that they went all the places that signs say they did and they apparently walked roughly a million miles of trails around the Columbia River gorge that were so well worn, modern man was able to find them and mark them for future hikers. More pictures on the way of this recent trip and I still have some from the San Juans.
