After failing to find the mystery dog’s owner, Dottie and I couldn’t find our own owners. When we finally found them, @sarahhannonmodel had named the mystery dog Beauty and they’d decided to keep her forever as long as they could find someone to throw those damned sticks for all eternity. At last Dottie and Beauty sort of hit it off, as you can sort of see.

Just when you thought this story couldn’t go on any longer, Beauty found some sheep and started herding them expertly into groups! My wife opined that Beauty belonged to the farmer just yonder (she might not have said yonder) and that these here hills were her stomping ground. So we tried to make a run for it, because #lunch, and Beauty ran after us with a fricking stick and I told the others to go and get the car and meet me by the lane so I could throw the stick, leap in the car and drive off leaving Beauty looking abandoned and me feeling eternally damned. Hooray!

After ten minutes of waiting by the lane, a driver of a Land Rover got angry at me for having my dog off the lead, even though she clearly wasn’t my dog. So I tried to coax Beauty out of the path of the car, and ended up stuck in some mud up to the top of my wellies and couldn’t move. Meanwhile Beauty had gone off to get a new stick and my wife and co. and Dottie had decided to have tea and biscuits by the car. I got myself free, ran to the car and shouted ‘Drive!’ Beauty chased us for about a mile while we all felt guilty and Dottie looked smug.

All in all a splendid day out. And distressing. Bonus frog for @edwinawyatt. Next: sheep!
