Gerald's Game is a thriller about a woman being trapped on a bed while she loses her mind. This movie is OK. I do like the idea and the psychological horror is great when effective. The acting is done really well and the themes of mistrust and the fall of a marriage are very interesting. But the movie has flaws. The biggest flaw is that the movie is a bit too juvenile. This is because the movie holds you hand too much. Every plot point is explained in dialogue and this leaves no room for the language of film to speak. You are told what will happen and then you see it happen. This just kills any tension the movie could've had. The dialogue is on the nose at times. Because of this, there are characters that speak for others instead of them speaking for themselves. I also thought the ending droned on for too long. Everything you've seen is explained to you again and this just gets old; just end the movie already. So yes, the movie is flawed but it is still decent. Overall this is an OK movie that had great psychological horror but with some juvenile execution.
