In 1993, after meeting Miss Black MN, I told my mom "I'm going to be like her when I grow up". Fast forward, 12 years later-5 state titles- pageant wins and losses-hard work and prayers- I was crowned Miss Black MN and went on to win Miss Black USA (2005-2006)

It was a DREAM turned into a reality. But that dream came with dedication, consistency, work, sacrifice and patience. It also came with hurt and disappointments. But at the end of the day, it was all worth it.

Your dreams that you have, will require your time, sweat and even tears. It will require patience and perseverance.

God will even add on to your original dream and expand your vision but know this: 1) It will require you to put in the work just as much as it will require you to trust and have faith; 2) It will require you to go through the process which includes the good along with the failures, hurt, disappointments, and trials; 3) It may not end up looking exactly as you planned but will end up being what God planned; 4) It’s so much bigger than you! You are blessed to be a blessing and these visions and dreams serve a larger vision and purpose; and 👑
5) What’s meant for you will be yours (if you’re obedient and believe it). I remember putting in the work to get to that place but at the end of the day, I know God’s grace was on me to win. When I was 8 years old, I had told my mom and bestie @crystal.hansen.35 that I was going to win- God had already told me! Fast forward Miss Black USA, I didn’t think I was going to win especially after winning Miss Congeniality 😆 but another contestant told me after the pageant that she had a vision of me being crowned a couple days before! So she already knew I was going to be crowned. Not to get too spiritual on you but again to reconfirm that what is for you, is for YOU! 👑
Be encouraged. Keep dreaming, but don't stop at the dreaming level. Keep working to make that dream a reality and have the CONFIDENCE and FAITH to know that what is meant for you will be YOURS 🙏🏽
