May the 4th, commemoration day. Our Dutch nation remembers all victims and heroes of WWII. My grandparents (Dutch and Ukrainian) met and fell in love in a German labour camp and fled the camp together. Every year on this day, I read a chapter from their book "A Ukrainian-Dutch love". If it wasn't for the war, I would not exist.
4 mei, dodenherdenking. Ons land herdenkt oorlogsslachtoffers en -helden. Mijn grootouders (Nederlands en Oekraiens) vonden elkaar in een Duits werkkamp. Elk jaar op deze dag lees ik een stuk uit hun boek "Een Oekraiens-Twentse liefde". Ik zou niet bestaan als de oorlog niet had plaatsgevonden. .
