I’ll be honest. I haven’t been this scared and anxious over anything in awhile as I am about Gabe’s first flight. We are flying to Colorado on Saturday so he can attend an amazing camp called @ascendigo outside of Aspen. It’s a camp that specifically serves the autism community so I’m not worried about that. I have only traveled by car with him because of this fear. How will he handle being stuck in a seat for almost 4 hours? How will I bring him to the bathroom? What will happen if he starts kicking the seat in front of him? Mostly I’m afraid he will become upset and scream at the top of his lungs and I won’t be able to calm him down. This usually happens at restaurants and although it’s horrifying when it happens I can easily walk out. I would appreciate any recommendations and advice from the autism parents who have traveled by plane with their kids with ASD.
