Masaan has two beautifully interwoven stories of love and loss by writer Varun Grover and director Neeraj Ghaywan. Avinash Arun's cinematography speaks beyond words. He takes you to the ghats where Deepak (@vickykaushal09) is working. He wants to transcend the restrictions of a casteist society. He falls in love with a high caste girl Shaalu (@battatawada). Yet, despite of the differences, Shaalu remains firm on her decision and asks Deepak to focus on his career. But during her family trip, Shaalu dies in an accident, and her body is sent for cremation on the same ghat where Deepak is working.
This is destiny. For them, ultimately casteism was not an issue, but nature played an antagonist and showed Deepak that not everything goes according to the plan - which makes us feel just as helpless as him.
